Well, it has been a month since I've posted anything. Time flies by so quickly. Cannot believe it is already time for Halloween!
We are now in week 27 of renovation. Yes, we are moving along at a much slower pace. The captain and I were both under the weather for about a week, which really knocked us down as far as working on the house. Just did not have the energy. But after several days not doing anything, we got back into our routine.
We now have a laundry closet. Woo Hoo!!! It has been a LONG time since we have owned a washer/dryer. It is really nice to be able to do our laundry at home and not have to go to the laundry mat.
This closet was just large enough to fit the W/D. Good thing too...cause we did not have a alternate plan for the washer dryer placement.
Our bedroom is pretty much done. Just need a new dresser and mirror.
The guest bedroom is finished...well almost. I need to refinish the huge bookcase we placed in that room. My dad made it for me about 25 years ago. I want to strip it and change the finish to coordinate with the small table and rocking chair.
We got the rocking chair from a thrift store for 14.00 bucks. I cleaned it up and painted it and it looks like new!
We are almost done with the kitchen/dining area. The molding around the floor was installed and all trim has been painted, repainted and touched up. We are still moving things from the storage unit to our kitchen. It is like Christmas for me. I had forgotten what I packed in those boxes.
While trying to organize our kitchen, we found we needed a place to hang a dish towel after doing dishes, so I asked the captain to install one for me. And he did, and it is massive....you can do plies and pushups on that bar. He says it gives the kitchen a industrial touch. Okay...
Anyway, it works well for drying my kitchen towel after doing the dishes.
We are also looking for a large dining table. I think the captain can make one exactly the way I want it, but I don't want to work him too hard. Would really like to have it before Thanksgiving. Will see.
As you can see, we are getting there. Still loads to do, but at least we can enjoy the house now. I find it a joy to cook and look out at our beautiful view. Lots of squirrels and birds in our back yard. And of course the lovely Pamlico River. Can't get enough of that view.
Until the next time...
Enjoy!
Amazing work you guys! Can't wait to check out the guest bedroom! :)
